Somehow this site got nominated for the Fitness Magazine Best Healthy Living Blog Award. Considering the content has become borderline pornographic (well, I guess that depends on your opinion of feet. . .) I was quite surprised! I guess that means I should probably start focussing more on things that people actually care about, such as fitness and eating.

A large part of healthy living involves maintaining your sanity. Sometimes that means eating cereal four consecutive nights rather than spending time cooking, and that’s A-OK. No one ever perished from Cheerio toxicity. My tips for retaining sanity during the pre-spring break crunch time include indulging in a hot bubble bath, maintaining normal exercise routines, and occasionally dancing your heart out to the Foo Fighters. In your underwear. Just saying.

Red Lady Roll (shrimp tempura, spicy tuna, mango and cucumber)

Speaking of workouts, today I completed a lovely swim practice consisting of:

Warm-Up:

400 free

200 IM drill

200 kick

Main Set:

2×200 free on fast interval

6×50 free on fast interval

4×25 kick hard

2×300 fast free

6×50 back/breast

4×25 kick

2×200 super fast free

6×50 descend free

4×25 free

200 warm down.

Healthy Roll (seaweed salad, apple, wrapped in mango)

The fast intervals made this a challenging workout, perfect for kick-starting the weekend. I’ve been trying to swim at least 6 mornings per week these days in an attempt to supercede my pre-college baseline. I took the day off from work to work on a 12 page paper due Tuesday and ended up going on a five mile run mid-day. The paper is on the medicalization of PTSD, quite an interesting topic! Once this paper is done, I will have WAY more time to blog.

Hope everyone is having a fun Friday night:) and please remember to vote! I will be eternally grateful.

Hey Ada!

Love your blog! I was wondering if you could include an explanation of what all your swimming workout terms mean in one of your further posts..for example “descend free” and “free on fast interval” – just curious! I love swimming, but I don’t do anything fancy…just regular freestyle and breaststroke. I’m looking to change it up a little!

Thanks,

Andrea!

Hey Andrea! That’s a great idea. In my next post I will most certainly decode all the swimming lingo. Thanks so much for your kind words and for reading the blog:)
