Candle Cafe West

by Ada on April 18, 2012

Candle Cafe is hands-down my favorite vegetarian restaurant in New York City. I was, therefore, extremely excited when they recently opened an Upper West Side location.

Last Saturday I met my fellow Candle-enthuse Amy for dinner

The atmosphere differs greatly from the Upper East Side one, exuding a more refined atmosphere rather than the hippy, grunge vibe of the other.

For her entree, Amy selected the Good Food Plate, a medley of sides. Her sides included the greens, daily veggies, beets, and sweet potato.

I also selected the Good Food Plate, opting for seaweed salad, mushrooms, and beets as my sides. While the components were just as tasty as at the original Candle, the portions were visibly reduced. Hopefully they will correct this as time passes.

The reason for my blog-absence has been the deluge of end-of-semester work. I leave for Collegiate Nationals in Alabama tomorrow and have a 20-30 page paper, a presentation, a final, and short essay due the Tuesday we return. Just a tad stressful:) I mentioned this on the blog before, but I seriously have The Curse of the Right Knee. Every time I have a race I injure my right knee mere days before. Every time. Yesterday I tripped over a metal bar, soared in the air, and landed knee-first onto the concrete. I also think my toe may be broken. Have been icing the knee and hopefully the swelling will reduce asap!

Hope everyone is having a great week and I’ll be back with a recap of Alabama!
