New Brunswick, NJ: Evelyn’s

by Ada on July 29, 2012

Last Sunday morning Kev and I hopped a train to New Jersey, met up with an entertainingly garrulous 80 year old political science professor and went sailing. Unfortunately I got extremely sea sick (so embarrassing!), but still enjoyed being outside by the water.

Our nautical escapade revved our appetites and we headed to Evelyn’s in New Brunswick. Evelyn’s features Mediterranean cuisine and a lovely outdoor patio.

To begin we split the blood sausage

and then Kevin selected the lamb platter

while I went with the grilled chicken artichoke salad

Our server also brought out extra treats, including an eggplant caponata

and a lighter vegetable dish

I really enjoyed all of the food we sampled, and would definitely return if back in New Brunswick.

After eating we strolled around the Rutger’s campus and grabbed ice cream at an adorable little parlor. The shop blends in whatever topping you select, creating a whipped texture

So good.

Despite the sea sickness we had such a fun little adventure and I hope to explore more of Dirty Jerz soon!
