Last weekend my wonderful friend Deena and her boyfriend Chris were visiting from California. Though Sunday I was originally supposed to be competing in a triathlon (sniff, sniff) my illness prevented me from participating. On the plus side, I got to have brunch with D&C!
Saturday morning we headed to the famous Elephant and Castle
Both Deena and Chris selected the Eggs n’ Apples Benedict on French Toast
Though I didn’t sample any, the dish appeared mighty tasty with it’s huge wedge of toast and copious apple slivers.
For my entree I went with the Canyonland Poached Eggs served with balsamic jus, fresh tarragon, tomatoes, avocado, wild mushrooms and a toasted English muffin
Though the eggs were perfectly poached, the dish lacked seasoning and flavor. Perhaps a heftier hand of the balsamic jus would enhance the overall taste. I still really enjoyed the abundance of vegetables and generous hunks of avocado.
Overall Grade: B
Thank you Deena and Chris for a lovely brunch!

Hi, I just found your blog! Both dishes look tasty, especially the eggs benedict, but I guess you can never tell how bland or unseasoned a dish is from photos!
So glad you’re feeling better now! I am a terrible 20-something new yorker; I never go to brunch. So many places to try I guess I just feel kinda overwhelmed? Let me know if you ever have an idea and wanna try it out!
I love Elephant and Castle!
